Ian Bourn, Lulu Quinn, George Saxon, Tony Sinden, Stanford Steele and Alison Winckle.

Contra-flow was a week-long multimedia event in which HOUSEWATCH introduced 18 dilapidated cars to the pedestrian precinct and office buildings of Exchange Square near Liverpool Street.

The performance took place day and night using film, video, sound and the actions of the six artists. According to a continually improvised piece of choreography, the group pushed eighteen Morris Minor cars through the walkways of Exchange Square, arriving at different positions and in new configurations. At night the cars appeared to be ‘pushed through the surrounding architecture' by means of twenty-four film projections appearing on the seventh floor windows of the Exchange House building. (HOUSEWATCH, formed in 1985, are a group of artists who work using light, film, sound and performance to transform ordinary urban locations and situations into new and exciting venues for events)
