Homage to Kenneth (Tivoli Films)

Nineties blow up of eighties tribute to US film-maker Kenneth Anger, filmed in the Gardens of the Villa d'Este at Tivoli outside Rome.

After fave Anger Waterworks film, Eaux d'Artifice (not so many of the fountains at the Villa d'Este are working). However, arbitrarily swapping the 85 day filter, to give a burst of ethereal blue, and with passages of single frames to punctuate the cool run of the in camera cutting, a purely spontaneous structural memori on two screens accompanied by a very old, very crackly, very sad favourite Archive recording of Alessandro Scarlatti's Sulle Sponde del Tebro (On the banks of the Tiber), in the spirit of the original film.

(Tour d'Artifice - Tivoli Films original Super 8, 18 fps, shown at VIVA Super 8 Festival, London, 1995)

Blow up from Kodak 40 original to 16mm 7272 stock, courtesy of Kodak.
