David Critchley
Continuous Colour 8mm

Three cameras were used to record this action, and three projectors are used to screen it.

A single figure in an open landscape walks from left to right and back from right to left across three screens. The single action was recorded on three cameras in real time. Replaying the three 20 second loops created to cover this action on three projectors creates a random time shift between the projected images. After a few complete transits from side to side, the walking figure begins to appear in more than one frame at a time, then in all frames or in none, or to walk into and out of the joins in the screens randomly or even simultaneously. All possible permutations are created over an indeterminate period of time depending on the degree of time difference between the projectors. D.C.
