Waterloo Sunset

Multilingual Waterloo Sunset was produced over the period of a week while in residence at BBC Radio London.

It took the form of a participatory work, where listeners to The Robert Elms Show were encouraged to help translate the Kinks song Waterloo Sunset into 36 different languages. This song had previously been voted 'London listeners most favourite song'

Erika Tan was artist in residence at the BBC radio London, working collaboratively with the radio station to find ways in which the radio phone in and other forms of participatory radio/media can be used within her own practice as an artist. The results and the trials took place over the last week of March on the Robert Elms show, BBC Radio London, 12 to 3pm daily. The residency coincided with her work on show in Reassurance, a 4-woman show of new video work by Susan Pui San Lok, Mayling To and Jen Wu showing at the Space, Triangle Gallery.
